Malvern Autumn Show

At the weekend I went with my sister to Malvern Autumn Show. Over the years we've been to most of the big flower shows, but a couple of years ago we first went to the Malvern Spring Show and decided we preferred it to all the others.

The setting with the Malvern hills in the background is gorgeous, and there's much more room to walk around. It's just as good as Chelsea or Hampton Court for buying plants, and with the car parks quite close, it's easy to buy something and then unload it. The Autumn Show is more of an agricultural show with displays etc. but still has enough flowers to be interesting. The flower arranging displays are always interesting since they're given a big space to display in so the viewers can walk right round the free-standing arrangements.

We stayed Saturday night at the Foley Arms Hotel which was built as a hotel in 1810. There's a faded elegance about the furnishings which might not appeal to everyone, but we loved the magnolia patterned wallpaper and curtains in our room. With massive, inlaid furniture which may have been from the original build or a Victorian refurbishment. The view out the window was right over the plain, and we could also see the abbey church at nighttime.

So a lovely break.
