Forty days ...

Well, it was St Swithun's day on Sunday (something that is particularly noted in Winchester since the cathedral is dedicated to him) and it did rain. In fact, it thundered and deluged if only for a short period.
And there have been showers since then, so the old verse is holding true so far:

St Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain na mair


I think I foresee a hot, humid, muggy summer!
