Hillier Arboretum

I'm on holiday this week and although I'm spending most of the time doing things like laundry, hoovering and insulating the loft, I did pop out yesterday to Hillier's to see if there was still some Autumn colour. And there certainly was with a lot of leaves still on the trees, probably because of the mild weather.

Descriptions of autumn all sound the same, even though the views seem unique when you're actually enjoying them, but there was a particularly fine moment as the sun was setting yesterday. I was one side of a valley looking across to the muted yellows and ambers of the other side when the sun came from behind a cloud and the tops of the valley were suddenly lit up. It was an unexpectedly gorgeous sight, as if the trees had suddenly been dipped in honey.
