The beginning of the allotment year

Well, this is the first day I've really managed to get a lot of work done on the allotment. I have pottered about a bit on odd hours, doing some digging and cutting down the raspberry canes, but the weather would never stay good enough to be able to carry on.

But today I dug over two of my frames, clipped around them, and gave them a handful of chicken pellets. And I emptied my black compost bin, and separated out the crumbly bottom layer for use, and mixed together the rest so it would decay quicker.

I have some seeds which I'll put on damp kitchen paper to start germinating, then plant those into root-trainers when they come on. Tomorrow will be more digging and tidying, since the weather is looking good.
