First sign of spring?

Not sure if it's one of the official indicators, but I saw a bat flitting about last night around twilight time. It was down by the river near the Leisure Cente, and I think they must have a roost somewhere near since I quite often see bats round there on summer evenings.
They always look apologetic when they fly, since they head off in one direction, hesitate and go another way, then change again, as if they were dodging pedestrians on a pavement :-)
